HAVING FUN WITH PLAY-DOUGH

Play dough is so easy to make and it is so much fun for kids to play with it. All Children in Gymboree Art class were excited with Play –Dough creative art project .

 

 

We are more than happy to share our Teacher Tammy's favourite recipe:

 

Easy Play-Dough recipe without cream of tartar and no cooking. 

All you need:

-          4 cups of flour

-          1 and ½ cup of salt

-          2 tea spoon oil

-          1 cup hot water

-          Food coloring

 

How to make:

In a mixing bowl, mix hot water, oil and food colouring together. Add flour can stir with spoon. When the mixture comes together, start kneading the dough to get a good texture out of it. Depending on humidity, your dough might be a bit soggier or drier than what we expected, adjust with flour warm water if you need.

  • Math’s and Literacy development: In more focused play, play dough can be used as a fantastic way to practice letter and number work. Children can form letters of the alphabet, spell out their own name, make numbers, form 2D and 3D shapes, compare lengths/ thickness/weights, count out rolled balls to match numeral card, match and sort by colour, etc.
  • Children also practice reasoning and problem solving through actively exploring materials and comparing and contrasting objects, actions
